India had a long historic period of five thousand years from Indus civilization to the present age. Mohanjodaro and Harappa main cities of Indus civilization are known to posses a sophisticated lifestyle, developed sense of aesthetics, town planning and an undecipherable script languge. Indus civilization existed at the same time as the ancient civilization of Egypt and Sumer. About 600 B C in India the founder of Jain and Buddhist religion Mahavir and Gautam Buddha were born. During the period the Indian subcontinent is full of caves and monuments devoted to there religions and are worth avisit. In 4th century BC Mouryan King Ashoka one of greatest king of Indian history, led the Mouryan Empire to take over almost all of what is now India. He was great follower of Buddha. He was also great builder,he built the Ashok pillar at Sarnath which has been adopted by India as national emblem and group of Buddhist monuments at Sanchi (UNSCO world heritage site ). They were followed by Guptas in the north, while in the south many different Hindu empires,the Cholas, the Pandyas and the Cheras spread and grew, at that time that part started trading with Europe and other parts of Asia. India attracted the rulers of subcontinent for their wealth and prosperity. They attacked upon India for money and gold. In 1192 Mohammad Ghori ruler of Afganistan came into India and captured several places of northen India and became first Sultan of Delhi. It was begning of Islamic Empire in India. Delhi Sultanate ruled over the India next 200 years. After the period Babar came India and established the Mughal Empire . Mughal emperor Akabar the great known for his communal harmony great protector of art, music and architecture. Indian music reached on top during the period.Other Mughal emperor Jahnagir,Shahnjaha were also great developers of art, music and architecture. TAJ MAHAL is a marvels example of Mughal emperor Shahajnha’s ’dream. The Europeans companies – Portuguese, French, Duch,Danish, British started trading in India in 16th century, these trading companies were also involved in local Indian politics. After some time British was controlled most of India and made it one of their colonies. India got independence from British in 1947 after long struggle of independence movement led by Mahatma Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak, Sardar Patel, Jawahae Lal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh etc.

India held virtually every kind of landscape imaginable –Himalyas, the world’s highest mountain, dense forest of western India and beautiful sea beaches of southern and eastern India.
